Reliability? Hands down the Lexus.

I just sold my 2001 RX. I owned it since new picked it up on 10/31/2000. It had about 65,000 miles and NEVER EVER EVER went in for a repair.

My X5 that I bought in July has already been in the shop twice. Once for new brakes (at only 12,000 miles) and once for a check engine code.

The X5 is BEEFIER than the RX, and rides significantly stiffer.

However, the power difference (even with the 3.0 in my X5) is night and day.

So if you can afford to pay for repairs, since they are both out of warranty, then go for it. otherwise, you might want to consider a toyota highlander. Its exactly the same as the RX but sells for thousands less.
