I have a decision in front of me TOMARROW. A 94 Bmw 525i or a 2001 Ford Taurus. Which one would be a more solid car. I hve researched and both seem comparable on gas. Bmw prob more expensive repairs PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE !!

The taurus's are so ugly and they have a bad repuation.

this is hard. the taurus is ugly and not as fast as the bimmer but i would still choose the taurus. why? because the taurus is 7 years newer than the bmw and bmws have had a reputation for breaking down for the mid 90's models. i think anyone would want the bimmer but it is better to get the taurus as it would more than likely last you longer.

You will never regret the 525i - you would love an even older 535 or 545 ... My ultimate BMW passion was a 740 il [Heavenly!]. The Taurus will be no thrills, no surprises and cheaper to maintain. However, if you are a 'driver' and if you have a sort of emotional relationship with your cars, the difference could sort of be described as BMW = hottie, and Ford = Auntie Ann ...

You didn't say which trim model Taurus you were looking at. That does make a difference. The newer Taurus may have safety systems that the 525 doesn't not have like side airbags. Traction control was an option on both cars. Plus you have to look at it in terms of generations in which some people don't think about too much. The Taurus was designed safety wise to meet a more current standard then the 525. Not saying the Bimmer is unsafe just a couple generations behind.
It will be harder to find parts for the 5 as well.
I had the 01 model Taurus in my fleet and it was a decent car. A good improved over the previous generation. Not perfect by any means but a good a to b car.

ok u r rite tha bmw repairs are probly guna b more expinsive but it is nicer,and tha taurus is a nice car but not as nice......ask urself which one needs more work..?
