i was wonderind would it be worth it to buy a 2000 bmw m5 with 108,000 miles on it i reallly love this car . can anyone tell me the pros and cons about it. i know they can be pretty reliable , my freind had a 1997 bmw 328i with 199,000 miles and the only thing that went bad was a sensor the car ran like it was brand new.

its not the miles its what care it was giving to get them so only way it to really check for signs of problems most any car will drive into the 400,000 range if its taking care of right

That sounds a bit dear to me. I own a 2000 m3 convertible with 77,000 on the clock with every conceivable extra thats worth nowhere near that amount and the 3 series tends to hold its price better than the 5 series.

Dude an M5 is NOT a 328. M series cars are intended to be driven hard. Did you ask the owner why he/she's selling it? It oughta be paid for, so getting out of payments isn't the answer...Anyway since you state you're in love with this car, any reasonable dissuasion is a waste of time. But:
Buying a used M-series especially one that's most likely due for:
- new coils ($600-700 @ BMW)
- new radiator/waterpump (BMW made the brilliant move of making a plastic connector on the radiator to the hoses.$1500-2000)
- new brake pads/calipers ($600)
- among other issues
is a bad idea, unless you like working on cars yourself. If you don't have any automotive repair skills-you'll be shelling out bucks sooner rather than later. If the car was: single-owner/driver, has its maintenance booklet, and the owner has receipts to show the last time it was serviced. MAYBE.
I agree, you should get either a new car, or a used car with a lot less mileage on it.
Edit: according to kbb.com, for LV anyway this car goes for about $18K in good condition. Either this person doesn't know its value (unlikely) or there's something they aren't telling you. Be suspicious!

I know you love the car... and EVERYBODY loves a BWM but DONT DO IT...

I gave the same advice to a close friend and she did it anyway.... Now shes paying thousands just on repairs and her car is in the shop or parked more than shes driving it...

For $14k, u should Finance a brand new car... NO PROBLEMS. Seriously i know people like you probably think if i spend $14k im gonna get something i really want. DO YOU REALLY WANT TO DEAL WITH THE LAST OWNERS PROBLEMS? Tires alone are a few HUNDRED. Engine pieces are ridiculously high priced... If you buy a used car... Buy something with a warranty. Factory warranty and a bumper to bumper warranty.
