i am buying a new car as a gift to my father but don't know which one will be the best.

The cars are lovely, but I would buy my dad a Lexus LX series (The 4WD of lexus). A comfortable, Powerful and elevated ride.

at that level of vehicle all are exceptional---really whichever one he would chose. if it is a surprise, and he doesn't care for it, it could be an expensive mistake. let him help you choose, and it could add even more meaning to this very nice gift.

I'm not very familiar w/Maserati, but the general perception is that BMW is sportier while Mercedes is classier and more conservative. Depending on your father's personality, one may be a better fit than the other. Has he test driven the cars? Although I'm sure the BMW 3-series and the Mercedes C-class doesn't compare to any of your options, I've test driven both (and now own the BMW) and found that BMW had a tighter suspension, while Mercedes had a much more comfortable and smooth ride. (Personally thought the BMW was more fun to drive and liked the way it looked a lot better.)

General complaints I've heard (but can't personally attest to) about the brands... BMW's 7-series on-board computer is really confusing and hard to use. Something about one button being capable of doing a million different things, but no one can really figure out how to work it. On the other hand, a lot of people don't like the feel of the Mercedes leather interior.

Lastly, although your father is probably going to cherish and love the car to where he might not want to ever sell it, it might be nice to consider how much the car will depreciate.

i would love to have any of them but i think i would choose either Maserati or S550. i want to own an S550 in the future but depends on what your dad likes.

all of them are really nice. but i see a lot more S class and & 7 series than i do the Maserati , so I'd go for Maserati. Stands out more from the crowd.

You should buy a BMW M5. That car is awesome.
