View Full Version : Should I get a Corvette or a BMW Z4?

It would be a 2005 Corvette with the LS2 motor (not the Z06) and the 3.0si version of the BMW Z4. I want something fast but it's not the most important thing since nothing can match the speed of my motorcycle. While speed is still very important I'm concerned about luxury and quality as well. I'm worried about the following things when it comes to the corvette: the smoothness of the gearbox, interior noise and rattling (especially at higher speeds), and the suspension quality (I plan to get one with the Z51 performance package; sport suspension is fine when it comes to bumps but I prefer the car not to tilt over in turns). When it comes to the Z4 I know the suspension is amazing and the cornering is perfect (I drove one). It's also very luxurious and structurally solid at high speeds which I'm very fond of. If the C6 Corvette handles well, is very comfortable, and is structurally solid then it comes down to speed and I know the corvette wins there. If anyone has driven either, or both (for comparison), of these cars I'd really appreciate the input and anything else you guys have to offer. Thanks.

Corvette. It's faster, classier, looks better, and believe it or not, gets the same fuel economy as the Z4 while having near 200 horsepower more. It's also reliable and got great reviews and crash test scores-unlike the Z4 which is notorious for it's bad German engineering. I'm not saying that because I love Chevy, but because the Corvette is just the overall better deal. Plus, in a decade or 2, that Corvette will be a Classic. The Z4 will just fade into the shadows like almost every other BMW does.

Corvette is not only a track car. Out of the Dodge Viper, Aston Martin DBS, Audi R8, Ford GT, and the Ferrari F430 and 599 GTB, The Corvette was rated the most capable daily driver by Road and Track Magazine.

The Z4 wasn't even mentioned, because it doesn't even come close to touching those cars.

If you plan on driving it on the road, then the Z4....corvette is ONLY a track car.....(and that's going by the outdated suspension, handling, fuel management, transmission, and drive train on the corvette)
