Actually I have 2 questions. My BMW Z3 needs new rear brake pads. I bought the pads myself but want a repair shop to install them.

1. What is the estimated labor time to replace the rear brake pads?

2. What's the average hourly labor charge by mechanics?

I'm no motor mechanic, but love messing with cars, do this due to labour costs being so un reasonable, i actually changed the discs and pads on a z4 last week, less than half an hour,so a pro can and should do it quicker....but they wont,to make more money, have a go yourself, you'll realize just how easy and cheaper it is

I used to be light line technician and worked for dealership. Most dealerships will not allow customers to supply their own parts for (1). Then typical labor for R & R is 1 hour at 70 to 80 dollars per hour.

The book will probably give it 2 hours
actual work time for experienced mechanic.. less than an hour

dealer shop rate in st louis..100.00/hr

independent shop... 55-100/hr

You need to find a reliable independent shop, that works on BMWs... that you can establish a rapport with..

i will say less then one hour.. it's a easy installation, hourly labor should cost around 70-90.. it will be cheaper if you can just DIY, it's not that hard!
